I would just like to comment on what has happened in recent weeks.
In our last two wedding films.
The penultimate, and after agreeing with producer photographer, the trailer wedding was published in EEVA, on our website and in our Vimeo account. After a week at the request of the producer, we had to remove all traces of the trailer wedding under threat of lawsuit. Although the work was much celebrated by the couple, it seems that there a person very close to them (a mother .... I think), with great friendship with the producer, who disagreed with the publication of the trailer, claiming it was private .... Personal life .... etc ..... Obviously, to avoid silly problems, both the photographer and producer, the videographer and we also have had to remove the video from internet.
The last case was different because the couple did not give permission to publish (the reasons are very respectable) from the beginning.
As professionals, we are sad, for not to publish this work (we believe are the best we've done so far).
We have heard a two filmmakers with years of profession and they just got permission to post three or four videos. Incredible.
Logically talk about for Spain. Exactly in the region of Galicia.
There seems to be customers do not like to be seen on the internet (Vimeo, our website, and EEVA) in a trailer for the wedding (perhaps "a magnificent trailer"), but ironically they post photos on their Facebook's, Twitter, Instagram, etc., in any form, regardless of the situation and that people can see or download. It's really frustrating and contradictory.
Indeed, a customer has decided not to provide the right of publication for personal reasons (a very respectable option) but there are others that seem to deny that right in a "systematic" shape.
Some clients come to us after seeing our portfolio. Others come by "word of mouth". Others come through videographers we work. But no one comes to see our billboard on the door.
Currently we are with the last wedding of the year, which will close our season editions (try to make a summary 2014, anyway). We hope to have more luck with this couple.
With these words, I just wanted to make a little share in our frustration and try to know your opinions and anecdotes about the issue of publishing rights.
